ABSTRACT
Objetivou-se identificar os fatores de risco associados à Síndrome Metabólica em idosos, por meio de uma revisão integrativa, realizada nas bases de dados LILACS, MEDLINE e BDENF, no período de 2003 a 2013. Foram selecionados 13 artigos, os quais destacam como fatores de risco para a Síndrome Metabólica a obesidade, a hipertensão e a história familiar de doenças. A prática regular de atividade física, associada a uma dieta rica em frutas, verduras, e cereais integrais, influencia no controle da síndrome.
Aimed to identify the risk factors associated to metabolic syndrome in elderly, through an integrative review, made in the databases LILACS, MEDLINE and BDENF, in the period 2003-2013. We selected 13 articles, which highlight as risk factors for metabolic syndrome the obesity, the hypertension and the family history of diseases. Regular physical activity associated with a diet rich in fruits, vegetables and whole grains influences the control of the syndrome.
